WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
I grew up right here in Tampa Bay. I attended Catholic School during my elementary years then started public school for middle and high school.
WHAT COLLEGE DID YOU GO TO?
I attended University of South Florida then went to Logan College in Missouri for Chiropractic School.
WHAT MADE YOU GO TO CHIROPRACTIC SCHOOL?
Great story! You know when you're in college and working multiple part-time jobs, life gets very busy and its non-stop. It started as a mild neck tension, then it became more and more painful, each passing day. By the end of the week, I could barely get up from bed because the neck pain was so bad. So, I made an appointment to see a chiropractor and within a couple sessions and physiotherapy, I was back to normal without taking any medications for pain. Not to mention, my range of motion was back; because 3 days before I could not turn my neck to drive. It was this experience that made me get into chiropractic. The rest is history.
WHAT TECHNIQUES OR ADJUSTMENTS DO YOU USE?
I do traditional manipulation, drop table adjustment, instrument/tool adjustment, or a combination of all of these. It also depends on a patient's age, size, and the patient's preference. I believe the muscles must be addressed as well as the bones. I do both in the office.
WHAT TYPE OF MACHINES DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR OFFICE?
EMS for muscle rehab and muscle spasms
Ultra Sound for deep heat therapy
Intersegmental Table for stretching spinal joints and increasing mobility
Flexion/Distraction for opening and elongating the spine
WHAT ELSE DO YOU OFFER IN YOUR OFFICE?
I do AURICULOTHERAPY which is another alternative /non-invasive therapy. There are many patients asking for help with migraines, anxiety, and throat issues just to name a few. All these have a connection to the nerves of the spine but not everyone wants chiropractic manipulation. This therapy has been around for many years, which actually stems from acupuncture. But I use an electronic probe that uses micro current to stimulate active reflex points on the ear for the type of condition we are trying to alleviate.
I also do CUPPING to address myofascial and muscle problems.
The last type of therapy I offer is MUSCLE SCRAPING. This is great for those patients with shoulder issues where scar tissue has taken place. It helps to break it up and allow better movement and flexibility.
WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR PREVENTING PAIN?
Practice proper body mechanics, because that is half the battle to preventing pain due to wear and tear. When you experience pain, seek the help you need so it does not get worse. Feed your body healthy nutritious foods and allow your body to rest so it can recover and heal.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES AND WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?
I love to play piano, sing, dance, cook, and travel. I also enjoy shooting at the gun range. I enjoy a lot of things. I am a person that never gets bored. I find pleasure in just sitting and being quiet and enjoying a cup of coffee and a muffin. I have had the pleasure learning how to scuba dive, sky-dive, and recently swam with whale sharks.
