WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
I grew up right here in Tampa Bay. I went to Catholic School during my elementary years then started public school 8th-12th grade.
WHAT COLLEGE DID YOU GO TO?
I attended University of South Florida then went to Logan College in Missouri for Chiropractic School.
WHAT MADE YOU GO TO CHIROPRACTIC SCHOOL?
Great story! You know when you're in college and working multiple part-time jobs, life gets very busy and its non-stop. It started as a small neck tension, then it became more painful, then on the 5th day, I could barely get up from bed because my neck hurt so bad. So, I made an appointment to see a chiropractor and within a couple sessions and physiotherapy, I was back to normal without taking any medications for pain. Not to mention, my range of motion was back; because 3 days before I could not turn my neck to drive. The whole experience intrigued me and I told the chiropractor, "if you make me better, I will look into becoming a chiropractor". At that time when I saw the chiropractor, I was a pre-med student. The rest is history.
WHAT TECHNIQUES OR ADJUSTMENTS DO YOU USE?
I do traditional manipulation, drop table adjustment, instrument/tool adjustment, or a combination of all of these. It also depends on a patient's age, size, and the patient's preference. I believe the muscles must be addressed as well as the bones. I do both in the office.
WHAT TYPE OF MACHINES DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR OFFICE?
EMS for muscle spasms
Ultra Sound for deep heat therapy
Intersegmental Table for stretching spinal joints and increasing mobility
Flexion/Distraction for increasing spinal motion and resolving disc bulges
WHAT ELSE DO YOU OFFER IN YOUR OFFICE?
I do AURICULOTHERAPY which is another alternative /non-invasive therapy. There were many patients asking for help with migraines, stomach issues, and throat issues just to name a few. All these have a connection to the nerves of the spine but not everyone wants chiropractic manipulation. This therapy has been around for many years, which actually stems from acupuncture. But I use an electronic probe that uses micro current to stimulate active reflex points on the ear for the type of condition we are trying to alleviate.
I also do CUPPING to address myofascial and muscle problems.
The last type of therapy I offer is MUSCLE SCRAPING. This is great for those patienst with shoulder issues where scar tissue has taken place. It helps to break it up and allow better movement and flexibility.
WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR PREVENTING PAIN?
Practice proper body mechanics, because that is half the battle to preventing pain due to wear and tear. When you experience pain, seek the help you need so it does not get worse. Feed your body healthy nutritious foods and allow your body to rest so it can recover and heal.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES AND WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?
I love to play piano, dance, and travel. I enjoy a lot of things. I like to cook, as well as eat. I also enjoy shooting at the gun range. I have had the pleasure learning how to scuba dive, sky-dive, and recently swam with whale sharks in the Philippines.
